Visa and Shopping

Went to the US Embassy in the morning to apply for my student visa. That was my first time into the Embassy, or any other foreign embassies for that matter. It felt like i was in a totally different country the moment I entered the building. The staff at the counter were all speaking with the American accent, the white blue red American colours were very prominent in the waiting room i was in and even the toilet [which had an armchair(?!?) in it]. The whole process took about 2 hours, from the visa application payment (NB to people going to apply for one: You NEED to pay using a Cashier's Order and nothing else, or the Embassy will reject your payment), biometric scanning of all 10 fingerprints, to the over-the-counter interview. Kinda long, but I'm not complaining coz my visa's approved. Haha.

Headed over to Orchard to meet Reina after that for lunch. Havent seen that girl in like super long! But our main aim for today's meeting was to hit the MNG SALE, which opened today at 2pm! We went to the MNG at Wisma at around 230pm and the crowd by then was insane. There were so many girls (and some unfortunate guys, dragged out by their gfs haha) and clothes strewn everywhere! We joined the throngs and started our hunt, chucking into our bags whatever we like. Take first think later (lest our sizes get snapped up). In the end i got 5 items -2 cardigans, 1 handbag, 1 tube, 1 berms- for $157. It would have been 6 and $178, but I decided to throw out a tee at the last moment to save money. Okay it's not much, the 2 values, but hey it's a start, especially coming from me! Haha

10 more days to pay day!

Today I was late for work. By 1 minute. But the punch card machine (PCM) was unrelenting anyway and printed the ugly 10.01am on my punch card. No thanks to the extra 1 minute, I will be getting no bonus for today's daily incentive (should we hit it). I was feeling pretty bummed for awhile but got over it after I sold the first bag to my first customer. It was a Pop Bamboo, one of the bags that customers don't normally buy (somehow or rather, people just love to buy bags with lots of logos) so I felt a tiny sense of 'yay' selling it. Heh.

Met up with Sheena, who works with Estee Lauder, for lunch at Lucky Plaza today. It was great, we had a fab time catching up and talking our work. Anyhow, I'm amazed at how I managed to meet up with her. My lunch/dinner time varies every day, so I'll only get to know what the time is on the actual day itself. On top of that, I have to go for my break when it's my turn (not leave for it earlier or later) because any delay on my part would affect the mealtimes of the people after me. For instance yesterday, I couldn't meet up with Guanyou coz of it.

Ernnie and her sister came by to visit me and I was super happy to see them! But I busy serving a customer so couldn't "help" them (To ernnie: I should have just "served" you, that customer didn't buy anything in the end bleh haha)

The day went by abit more slowly today compared to the start of the sales period, but I was quite glad to head back home at around 8plus. Went back and had some really yummy homecooked food, something I haven't had in awhile!

What I have been up to

Okay I decided that I'm gonna start blogging as of today whether or not the blog looks pretty coz otherwise I'll fly off to Boston and back and still have nothing on my blog!

An update on what I have been doing the last 1.5 months of my summer break: a trip to Japan with my family (early May), church camp (mid May), and then working at Gucci Paragon ever since. Blehhh. Haha. One would think that working in such a place is glamorous, but it's hard work! Bleh. I'm just not used to working so pardon me haha. But I'm getting used to it. That aside, it's an interesting job. My Mandarin has improved by leaps and bounds (thanks to the throngs of Chinese customers whom I meet daily), I am determined to bring up my kids properly when I grow up (there are alot of kids who treat the store as a playground), learnt how to use a scarf in various ways, etc! It's been a real eye-opener. The only downside is that the working hours are very irregular. I have to work on weekends too, and my off days are like once every 4-5 days, which roughly translates to a 6 day work week. So I do feel that I have so little time for my family and friends (including all of you reading this now haha so do feel free to pop by Gucci and visit me! Heh :p)
